What Changes Do We Undergo In Terms Of Health As We Grow Old?
Changes in our health occurs rapidly and the older we get, the more these changes occurs. These changes takes place without us noticing them. Both mental and physical aspects in our health are the components of these changes. The first change to occur would be the slowing down of one’s metabolism. The rate at which a person’s body burns calories differs depending on their age, the older person burns calories slowly while the younger one burns calories quickly. This means that as we grow old our body’s need for energy found in food decreases compared to that when we were at our younger age. Sexual function deficiencies also takes place to us as we grow old. Also, the older we get the less we are able to achieve longer focus and the more likely we become slower and sloppy. These symptoms are considered the secondary products of the chronic disease dementia.
The sad truth is that, as we grow old, so does our body and this gives way to the deterioration of our bodily functions. Our vital organs functions less efficiently as we age. Take for example the kidney, its function of cleaning the water in our body becomes less efficient. Aside from that, our heart will also start to deteriorate as we approach the twilight stage of our life.
What Should We Do To Improve Our Health Status Then?
Know that there is no time limit as to when we will start to invest for our future especially in our health. It means that if we are going to invest in our health early, then the rewards will come early as well.
Maintaining a physically active lifestyle is an important factor that must be met. Exercising regularly is one of the secrets in maintaining an overall fit and healthy mental and physical state. If we only choose to be active at all times, we will be more energetic in everything we do and we will be able to avoid depression. Exercise also promotes socialization to older people enabling them to easily get in touch with the other members of the community. One of the greatest way to socialize while staying healthy is walking or going to the gym.
